Heartily agree with this statement. To me, it means: to enjoy where I live, have a meaningful job that I still want to go to, food on the table daily, enough to share with others, a roof over my head that doesn't leak, and transportation to take me places, family and friends I can count on and who can count on me. Some people with bazillions of dollars aren't necessarily "rich" where it counts nor does it matter what state you are in.

I think you just defined the true meaning of the life that most of us desire.

Sounds like you won't be happy where ever you go as you will have to take "you" with you. It also sounds like your neighbors will be as happy to see you go as you will be to leave. Good luck.

Oh, you mean like the copper, cattle industry and Montana Power? Which were all sold to out of state interests leaving us with diddly squat? Nope, I don't know nothing about that
But it was Montanans that sold out to those interests so you can't blame the out-of-staters for all of it.

Thats not a fair statement. You need to go a little deeper. Yes, there are ranchers selling off parcels for housing developers for out of state clients. On the surface, it wuld appear that it was the ranchers decesion. However, sky-rocketing land prices are a product of out od state realtors and clients. Rancher Joe quickly finds himself land rich and money poor, and the increased land values put a heavy burden on his tax liabilty. Montana is full of ranchers who have had to sell off bit by bit to pay their taxes from absurd tax assessments. Realtors have been selling off Montana one parcel at a time.

Look around
There is more to Montana than just Missoula. Bozeman is beautiful and my favorite but there is also Helena, Great Falls, Billings, Butte, northern MT like Glacier NP, and there is always southern MT near Yellowstone NP.
If you like crime, pollution, traffic and rude people then please go home and be happy. I used to live in Southern California and the only reason I would go back is for a trip to Disneyland or to see the ocean again.

Sometimes a realtor is like a politician... just on a smaller scale.
Doesn't matter where they are from, most times they are still full of *expletive deleted*. Just like all the news of late.. who get's the perks? and who are the ones that do the paying?..
Worst part is some end up paying with more.. but they did so in hopes of the rest of us doing better.

And as for trees and wildlife/mountains there is more beauty in western washington, northern california and oregon then there is here short of the tiny fragment of mountains and trees in western montana, and what you can see of idaho on the western sky scape.
They should divid the state, 1/4 of montana the western montana can still be called montana(mountains) and eastern, the majority of the state can be renamed llano(flat) in spanish because thats what it is flat almost deserty looking plains, if you ask me this state is a hell hole.
Cost of living is beginning to rival an oregon/eastern washington based housing market, and the job market/economy even with the troubled times in the u.s. Or even the world rivals a third world country, stay away from montana. When you do find a job if your from out of state they won't give it to because they hate californians, washingtonians and any other who isn't from montana, if you come here change your plates quick
