Visiting Great Falls
I am visiting Great Falls, MT in about 10 days or so. Can anyone recommend places that I should see or visit. I would like to take my daughter (she is 7) ice
skating in an open area and also see the great state of montana.

Giant springs and the river is about all I can think of. There aren't a lot of touristy spots in G.F. and being this time of year it might not be as nice looking as it would in the summer.

Hey Rickers, I have been off for a week or so, laptop had to go back for a repair, good to see you responding, Sorry OP, a little catch up, I have been to a few cute shops in GF, not sure if there is even enough ice to hold yet, we just got a good snow overnight on the hi-line. Take your kid to the museum at Ft. Peck, awesome dinos!

If it freezes, Gibson Park is a nice place to skate. The Metro at the fairgrounds offers open skating. Visit Giant Springs, the Interpretive Center, Childrens Museum and the Charlie Russell Museum. Have a great visit

Show her all the pretty missile silos. Other than that, there's really not much to see. One of the most boring places on earth. Passed through there once on a cross-country trip.

Bozeman or Whitefish for the skiing. If I wanted to tour Montana and maybe a few other states I would book a sleeper car on Amtrac (The empire builder run) and enjoy the high line without having to drive, The food is good in the dining car. The Empire builder runs from Chicago to Seattle and back. It's a fun vacation just riding the train. Don't ride coach, get a sleeper car.

Skiing might be a bit "iffy" at this point since we really don't have much of the white stuff at this point...

We were supposed to get a big dump but I guess the storm went south ! Ya never know what ten days could bring but most of the Montana ski mountains get a real late start compared to the other western ski areas. Heck I've even skied before Halloween in California.

I believe Great Falls has a new ice skating rink but it is indoors. Conrad has an outdoor rink but no water in it yet. (Hopefully before the weekend!) The Lewis and Clark Intepretive Center is great for kids - lots of "hands-on" things for them to do...
