June Visitors
My wife and I are going to visit Big Sky area for our first time this June. Any suggestions as to what to visit. We have never been to Yellowstone. Love to go whitewater rafting. We are Floridians so I know the weather will be of some concern but we only have 1 week and want to enjoy this beautifull part of our Country. Thanks for any input.

Jackson Hole, Wy is a great place, I love that town. There's lots to do there and the river is perfect for white water rafting.
Up in Yellow Stone you should see lots of wildlife, probably not bear anymore but everything else. I have never stayed at the old yellow stone lodge but I hope to someday, it looks like fun. I think they restored some of the old 1930's busses that they give tours in, that would be a fun way to see the park.

Please be advised that June can be a month of great weather transition - meaning that you are more likely to freeze your buns in cold wet weather than get sun burned. So be prepared. I opened up our summer place last year on the first of June near Livingston (about 50 miles North of Yellowstone park). It rained continually for a week and was in the 30s. I was burning propane so fast that I couldn't keep up!! So I went back home for a couple of weeks to get warm!!
And it's not a good month to fish the Yellowstone River as the water is treacherous and is usually out of the banks.
Enjoy late June or July.

My in-laws were visiting in October and saw a grizzly right next to the road near West Thumb. Needless to say all the tourists with their cameras were way too close but lucky enough to avoid trouble.

Six inches on June 12, last year. It was great!
If you're going to the Park and are needing a place to stay, I would advise you to steer clear of St. Mary Lodge and Resort!
