Can anyone tell me about Jordon?
I know the town itself is tiny...I am looking at a position with the National Wildlife Refuge in that area. I have not been able to find much information on what other resources are in the area (stores, schools, etc.). I have a daughter who will be in fourth grade next school year. Any information about the area would be helpful. TIA!

No, we can't talk about it. It's like Area 51, top secret. To get in you have to know the secret hand shake. Kinda like Muley, Montana, very secretive. It's like that song, "Hotel California" says, you can check in but you can't check out.

LOL! I was hoping that no one was going to tell me that the towns in the area weren't closed to newcomers...I know some small communities can be very opposed to outsiders. I was hoping that Montana communities were like other midwestern/ western places that I had visited and lived, which have all been very friendly and open.

The town/county are extremely right wing conservative. Around 90% of the county votes Republican. Google "Freeman Standoff". I know people from up there and have been there many times. Seems like many in the town are still proud of the fact that thats what people think of when they think Jordan. If you like seclusion you will love it...the area around there is actually very pretty I think.

The first thing to do is spell the name of the town correctly! J-O-R-D-A-N
Then, learn the CORRECT pronunciation for Butte and Helena (no, it is NOT "butt" or "Heleeena")
Yessir, we'uns is pretty much hicks from the sticks, but proper spelling and pronunciation are important to us! Expecially when it comes to our town and county names.

I am so sorry to have offended you with my horrendous rendition of your town name. My sincerest regrets and apologies. I never intended to indicate that "you'uns" were hicks in any way, shape or form. If you haven't noticed where I currently hail from, trust me - this area of the country has the market cornered...and FYI - I am originally from Rapid City. I know full well how to pronounce Helena, and Butte, for that matter, too.
I guess you have managed to answer my question, and I will continue my search for gainful employment - elsewhere. Preferably, someplace where a simple spelling error isn't grounds for an outright attack.

I suggest you check out some places in Wyoming. I've personally found that people are much more friendly and open to outsiders! Now, all you Montanans, don't get mad at me! It's a generalization......I know a lot of great people in Montana!

Well, sir or madam, I'm sorry I offended you with my little joke. I see you are from Indiana. I also see that not only is a sense of humor somewhat lacking, so are reading skills. It is quite plainly stated that I am in Billings, Montana, NOT Jordan.
By the way, NOW you have been mildly "attacked". I could go on about "Easterners", but I won't. After all, I are one, came out here from a small town in PA in 1948.

All I remember about Jordan is that I can't recall if it was there or Circle that when we drove thru on the main E-W highway back in the 1960s, the pavement stopped at the edge of town, the road was gravel thru town, and pavement started back up on the other side. Which tells me that the sensible folks there can't afford and won't vote for taxes for "improvements" that they can live without. I suppose it's paved by now, tho
I just named one of my dogs "Jordan" after the town. Her brothers are named after some of the higher MT mountain passes (Colter, Bridger, Logan), and I ran out of good names there (Skalkaho does not fall trippingly off the tongue!) ... I like those little one-horse prairie towns, and Jordan was the first one that came to mind, so that's her name. And I even knew how to spell it.
Betcha the people there aren't all that thinskinned about a little spelling joke, tho
