Can you suggest towns in Montana I might like to live in?
I'm hoping to move to Montana next year (possibly late spring/early summer 2010) but I don't know what towns I would like to live in. I am a receptionist, will be 28 years old, am single and have no kids. I am from the big city but am very small town at heart. Although I've never lived in a small town, I am sincere about wanting Montana to be my home and fitting in. Although I have quite a bit to learn about living in the country, I am willing to learn and there are no worries I'll be bringing the city with me. I love the rodeo, outdoors (camping, hiking, fishing, hunting, whitewater rafting, riding horses, ATVs and snowmobiles). I am looking for a town with a mostly younger population (20s-50s/60s), in/very near the mountains, preferably less than 1,000 people but am OK with up to 3,000. I would prefer living near a lake.
Thank you, in advance, for any suggestions.

I've been hiding ! My advice to the OP would be to secure work first, then figure out where to live close by. Here is a picture of a typical house in Muley Montana. There may just be an opening for a receptionist there.

If I still had enough moss in my blood from Oregon I am sure I could realtor this up to a stunning vacation getaway with a veranda with roll up shades and guest house. Note the tarp is included at no additional cost!
OP, we do have a bit of fun here, shoot us a little more info, someone will help ya. Search in northwestern Montana, good luck.

Yes I do work from home ! (BTO; " Taking care of business") All of my rentals are rented and I just spent the day at Lake Frances with my wife, my dog and my bird Peekaboo with a nice campfire. Not a cloud in the sky and lots of folks driving out on the ice to fish. Now I'm looking at another piece of real estate to pounce on. God I love this recession ! Pic below is my next opportunistic target ! The rent is only $1500. per month with a $5000 deposit, it's off the grid so you don't have any utility bills, you have to carry water from the creek and there are no neighbors in sight. I will do a rent to own contract and the land includes all of the Lolo National Forest. Just DM me and we can arrange payment to my Swiss bank account !
Just joking ya ! Good luck moving to Montana.

Philipsburg is a town in western Montana that fits your criterea, and I believe I saw an opening on the Granite County website the other day looking for someone with your skills.
