we are still in process of selling our missouri home but still searching for the right land to put up a simple home around the kalispell area. we hope to add at least a handful of jobs into the community when we open up our doggie spa and boarding retreat. I had a biz in OK where I am from www.pawsitivelyperfect.com it was a small town there and I want to go back to small communitye life where we can be involved and help the town grow, etc. I am having trouble finding the info on dog grooming/boarding out there....I have read all the info on weather, buying housing, etc but can anyone lend me some advice on starting a pet grooming biz there or should I consider buying an existing one?

My husband is a driver for an equipment company here, United Rentals, and we hope he can find the same type of work there as well. He really enjoys driving (whats a trucker to do???? lol) I just supply tons of food for the guys to snack on all day, ha.
Any more thoughts and ideas are appreciated in regards to dog grooming, etc.....Im just a small town gal, got mixed in with the city, and now, well, I want to find a home with my new husband in the snow and LOW HUMIDITY..... Missouri is killing my arthritis and joints, it is terrible here!

we hope to add to the community and value what God already created there. Hopefully, we will be visiting in the next 2 months (i have surgery tuesday and then recovery then visit time! yahooo) And we can meet some of yall in person for dr. pepper or coffee!

Oh yeah....any chance we will be able to find a rent house until we find some land to build on later ( a year or so....) We have 3 dogs (shelties, rotten one! and 2 teenagers which are for sale most days....the kids NOT the dogs, lol.....

Thanks again! Angela

Welcome to the forum!
First, there's already at least 3 dog groomers and one self serve/full serve dog groomer/car wash if that gives you any idea what they need to do to stay in business and there's many kennels. People here are broke and less likely to pay for such a luxury so I'd not suggest entering that business now.
As for driving for an equipment rental company, United Rental just closed an office/shop/rental yard here that they built last year and at this point I don't see much equipment moving around from the other company. Construction is pretty much halted at this point but there are a few commercial projects slated to start in April.
As for driving jobs as a whole, there really are no jobs available at this point. The job service has about 40 posted and about 300 people applying for them. He might (might) be able to get a job with Hanson Trucking in Columbia Falls hauling chips. It pays about $10 hr and is kind of a wacky place to work since you may work graveyard one day and days the day after that and then nights again. He better be able to drive in all types of nasty weather and be ready to throw steel everyday, deal with ice,fog and all matter of critters jumping in front of him and be able to get a passport to go to Canada.
I'd highly suggest staying exactly where you are until this recession tapers off.
