Yeah, it's a charming town no doubt, but I did get that ambience living there. It's almost a dreamy place.

Like I said before Great Falls is not creepy but this thread sure is.
G.F. is just a small dusty prairie city with a nice river. It's a place to shop.

Doesn't that sound like a good setting for a horror movie?
I mean, don't they all start off in innocent-looking farm towns??

Montana had another extreme case of murder/cannabalism some time ago.
|
We mustn't forget Montana's most famous cannibal, "Liver-Eating Johnson," or John Johnston. His Indian (Flathead?) wife was killed by Crow Indians in 1847, and Johnston carried on a one-man war with the Crow for 20 years. According to legend he would kill them and eat their livers--although in fact he probably "just" ate one liver. There's another story about him fighting with a Blackfoot Indian in the dead of winter, killing him, cutting his leg off, and munching on it all the way back to camp, 200 miles away. Rent Robert Redford's Jeremiah Johnson DVD, a cleaned-up version of the story, but a wonderful film! As a matter of fact, you may as well buy the DVD . It was shot in Utah, but takes place in central MT. The real Johnston apparently ended up as town marshal in Red Lodge, and died in 1900. His grave was moved from Los Angeles in 1974 and relocated to Old Trail Town, Cody, WY.
