Deliverance! That's right! It hurt and I'm a girl! Okay, without checking online, who knows what year it was 'delivered' to the cinemas?

You should be able to get 300,000 miles or more out of a properly maintained one. I am partial to Cummins. To check out it's condition you could do a compression test on each cylinder. I would highly recommend, if you're not sure of the vehicles history, performing an engine oil analysis. This will tell you the amounts of wear metals, fuel dilution, etc. Blackstone labs is one outfit that does this testing.

I won't have the luxury of that in-depth of an evaluation, tho it does sound like those tests would be ideal if you can do it. If I was spending 10 grand I'd have to hold out for that, but this is gonna be down in the 3-4 grand range. More like go look at it, poke and prod, test drive, check the Carfax report, make a decision.
So stuff like "what noises and smells and behaviours are normal?" is what I'm after -- the kind of stuff you'd notice in a test-drive and in poking around under the hood and down under the frame with a flashlight. Is the "which leaks are serious and which are just a nuisance" pattern different from a gas engine? Stuff like that.
(Remembering, of course, that a Ford is supposed to leak. )

Just have to rant a bit here... enjoy reading and commenting once in awhile... but man oh man! Getting really tired of people getting on the Montana forums and just starting arguments... following their history it would seem they get on these forums just to see how many threads they can get locked or shut down!
Sure, free speech and all but COME ON!

My ex wife and I used to argue a lot, (That's why she is my X). She would say to me,
"Why are you arguing with me ?" - I would reply, "I'm not arguing, I'm talking and you're arguing around me" !

I had the pleasure of playing a very small part in the restoration of the clock. I squared the bottom part of it with a bar clamp so the parts would fit together after the glass was in it.
I was very careful and happy that no glass broke during the straightening.
That clock and theater is a half a block from our little building. I want to get a picture of it when it's all covered in snow after a storm on a bright winter day.

Agree 100%
Hey Gman2007: Have a favor to ask: Would you explain how I can get access to the "AVATAR" (the open mouth Grizzly) that you use.
I am a member of a "sporting/hunting" type forum elsewhere on the web, and I'd sure like to use that avatar. (I do have one -Kodiak Brown- on the wall, no recorde book, but sq'd 9 foot.
(NOTE: pls note I'm not a computer geek at all, so pls take me through "step by step". Thanks

How old is that clock? Does it still have its original glass? (I suppose that'd be hard to know for sure, tho) Old glass gets brittle, takes serious care not to break it if you're fixing the frame. Y'all done good, the results are beautiful. Makes a person proud of the town just to look at it.
Some of that brickwork sure has character. Any of the date stamps visible?
