The cousins are still staring at the M. C. Escher drawing ! I think they will be out of trouble for the next three days !
This picture below is a classic example of Escher's work, hard to believe the guy flunked the second grade in school. His mind just worked differently than most peoples.
I like this one so much I'm now using it as my profile picture for a while.

M.C. Escher is, (was, he is no longer with us) one of my favorite artists along with Beverly Doolittle.

Here is another one of my favorite Escher works.

Escher was interestingly bent, all right. I bought the book with all his stuff in it, couldn't resist. There are some interviews with him online somewhere. And someone made a bunch of 3-D models that fool the eye but good -- have a gander at Escher for Real and Beyond Escher for Real (and don't blame me if you never escape!)

I'm nowhere near the artist, but I've had some fun making my own Escherisms...

I kept thinking that the stair drawing reminded me of a movie and I remembered! Read the 8th remark about the movie "Labyrinth"

Don't mean to change the subject, but I am..... Anyone do anything special over the last few days? On Wednesday I took part in a Christmas Bird Count in the Florida Keys. We were in the Tavernier area - my team worked the Windley Key - Plantation Key area. We i.d. and count every bird we see from dawn to sunset. 2 teams went out in boats.
