Berries, I love to pick wild berries and we have almost an embarrasment of riches in Montana.
Aside from the mountain and lowbush huckleberries, wild gooseberries make spectacular jams and pies. Wild raspberries are almost sinfully delicious, so much more flavor than domestic.
Chokecherries are super for syrups if you can beat the bears to them, One of my personal favorites is the Serviceberry, sometimes called Saskatoon Blueberry, large high bush, really mild flavor.
Wild currents, both red and yellow make spectacular jelly.
In the east, Buffaloberry is delightfully tart, unbelieveable jellies.
If you are adventurous, the thornapple fromt the black hawthorn makes unique jelly, just make sure to pick them off the bush after a frost, don't pick them up off the ground as they become poisionous.
If you want wine, the black elderberry is tiny, but packs a huge punch! Makes super jelly too, just don't try to eat them off the bush. Give tart a whole new dimension.
The Indians used to mix chokecherrys or serviceberries with jerky to make pemmican. Raspberry sauces are really good on some wild game meat, kind of like mint jelly on lamb.
Oh yeah, we have wild mint as well. Jelly made from that really has a kick!
There are lots of others, but the ones mentioned are the easiest to find if not pick. Black hawthorn has 1 inch thorns!!
Enjoy but be sure you know what you are picking!!

I have an old chokecherry bush in my yard. The birds led me to it my first summer. I have enjoyed the fruits of it.

Ah, chokecherry picking... used to do it with my grandmother every summer. (Where's the emoticon for "nostalgia"??) Chokecherry jelly, pancake syrup, and when some of it turned instead of setting up, vinegar and more rarely a pleasantly astringent low-alcohol wine.
As to that roast.. you got the onions and mushrooms, now throw in some new potatoes and baby carrots... nothing better than potatoes and carrots roasted in meat juice!
Come to think of it, that's what I'll do with that chunk of good ol' Angus beef later today... potatoes, mushrooms, onions, YUMMMMMM!

Yes, carrots and potatoes goes without saying!
We are enjoying the hunt rewards at this very moment, shall I serve you a plate?

Ah, sounds lovely. I'll be right over. Oh, and here's a jug of lemonade and a sixpack to go with it!

No, no, no. Perish the thought.
Allow me to further your culinary education Sir and point out crumpets are for "Tea" - as in the 17.00 hrs call for a hot beverage and a small smackrel (thank you Winnie the Pooh) of something. They may be had for breakfast, but... well, let us not discuss the type of heathens that eat crumpets for breakfast.
I would suggest that should you wish to provide the course of "Pudding" (I believe you call it "dessert") you would be better served by a nice trifle... or better yet and a personal favourite of mine, "Spotted Dick".
 You've never had Spotted Dick?
You don't know what you're missing.

You guys are starting to worry me....
I thawed some black raspberries and had some left over home made ice cream. Better grab a glass of water to cure the brain freeze, the home made ice cream tends to do that.
