What's a crane fly? Is it bigger than a horse fly or a whole different 'animal'?

We've had strong winds here for several days but at least we haven't lost a tree like we did a few months ago......pretty chilly, too...haven't even been out for a walk down at the harbor...too windy... I haven't had the news on but I am sure there have been trucks overturned on certain passes..... There was snow, sleet and hail on the grapevine..(saw a pic in The Times today)....

I hope that all are okay and I'm sorry for the damage to your house, Gman2007.

Default crane fly vs horse fly .........

Wurzig... A crane fly is slighty bigger.. Can be recognized by his long neck, the name TEREX on his side, and the tiny little guy sitting in the cab on his back.

Sorry...... couldn't resist that. ... HAHA.

Please forgive me for that one Wurzig..

Thanks, Reziac! Can't make it to Twin Bridges in Oct., but I can add him to my Amazon.com cart!
Well, I guess I'm three pages behind as usual. Sorry about all the wind damage, Gman...

It's sort of like a flamingo fly, except it's not pink.

Oh yes, all okay... When I woke up, I told wife that tree was going to go over so she promptly loaded up the kid and dogs in the car and went across the street to wait the whole thing out - ha!!! Only tore off the porch on the side of the house so we still can get out our front door. All in all, much cheaper than having to pay someone to come cut down the tree! And, wife didn't like that part of the porch anyway! Hmmm.. now that I think of it... wonder if she had something to do with it...

Oh, those things! I thought they were mosquito eaters or in the mosquito eater family. Thanks for taking the time to show me.
