Here's a site with a bit of fun western history regarding the Ketcham outlaw family.
These are the same folks commonly used to illustrate a bogus but still very funny political lampoon that often circulates.

Rez, I had to learn about these when I came here, I have even gone to a overnighter. Great fun. A type of reunion of sorts for folks on the eastern side.

I have been told the movie "far and away" used some of these events for their scenarios. Not sure if someone was pulling my leg thought

"The recreation of the Great Land Rush involved 800 extras, 400 horses and 200 wagons. The extras were all recruited from a re-enactment society called The Re-enactors."
That's not very specific -- there are tons of such outfits now.

I do think it's mighty cool that these folks still remember their heritage and keep it alive like this.

Here's something useful -- tests of anti-corrosive metal treatments. While specifically about those for guns, the same should work for most iron that's exposed to rust conditions.

Rez's tip of the day: put a drop of motor oil inside the nut before you close it, and your French Link won't wind up practically self-welded shut for all time.

(Used to be they were all made in France, hence "French Link". Now they're made in India and China and are largely no good anymore. )

The plan right now is to drive from Florida, Louisiana, Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, then Montana - Red Lodge! I'm getting exciiiiiiiited! Just two gals and two big, goofy dogs! Mostly back roads and eating at diners, etc.
