That last picture of the bridge is interesting. It was built in 1951 and it's the only one of it's kind in the U.S. It's an interesting truss design, we kayaked under it last summer. I love my new camera, it sure beats using my old Argus but I'm a bit wary of taking it out on a river trip, that's a lot of dough to drop into the water !

Those were outstanding pics Rickers. Tried to rep you but, alas, I need to spread them around. God I hate that function. I don't rep often, but damnit, when a person deserves it, they deserve it.

Hmmm... I kinda wish I still had those four lots in Hungry Horse, that would have been a great place for a base camp!
We'll be going right by Rickers, too. The plan is to overnight in GF, then head up the freeway and over the mountains. No time to stop in Conrad, though, and we won't have any computer access at all during the trip.
Cool! Hey what exactly is the Hamfest? I've never heard of it.
Oh, if anyone is around Stevensville on Aug 7-9 you might want to go to the Creamery Picnic. They are having the Montana State BBQ competition (I'm a judge) with competitors from all over the western U.S.. Good bbq is almost assured! Hope to see some of the people from the porch there!!!

Your tempting me dag nab it. Between the BBQ and the thought of a little float down the Bitterroot River along with the opportunity to get some pics of the Bitterroot Mountains with my new Canon PowerShot SX10IS, I'm very tempted to make a trip across to the west side.

I'm sorry, I didn't connect "Hamfest" with Ham ops since I'm into BBQ naturally that's where my mind went... I had neighbors and friends that were Hams and built their radios from Heathkit, the brave souls..
