The many uses of duct tape! Nods to Rickers.
A rare weekend off here on the eastern side. Pulled what was left of last year's venison out of the freezer and it is now becoming jerky to fuel us on the upcoming hunts. I put a portion in the dutch oven with a hunter's best friends garlic and onions and that was lunch for hubs and I with a baked tato on the side. In spite of the snow blowing around I still had a couple of ripe tomatoes that I picked maybe four days ago, served on the side with a last cucumber. The end of summer right on the plate.
Licenses are bought, although I am more the "help" and do my shooting with the camera. Last winter was long and harsh so this season may be a little more challenging but the ones out there certainly have had the chance to pass on hardy genes.
Hubs saw a moose above sweetgrass last year, hope to be lucky with a camera on that this year.
How is your weekend going?

I just came in from weeding about 30 mins ago. It was 85°! I am starting the South Beach Diet - need to lose 10 pounds again..... I refuse to wear clothes larger then size 6! I have the coming week off and today ordered a pallet of mulch to be delivered this Thursday. I hope to drive down to the Keys (Islamorada) and visit World Wide Sportsman - a great store! One time I was there and was surrounded by guys who looked like Ernest Hemingway! There is an annual contest for the best lookalike to E. Hemingway in Key West and these guys were on their way. Now that was surreal - some of them really, really looked like EH!!

PL a shack in the Keys, my ultimate fantasy! The hubs promises when we win the lotto we will split our time between here and there!
Going from a zone 4-5 and occasionally 6 to a dead even 2 has been a challenge. Keep talking about your lovely gardening, even mulching! I can smell the cedar bark now. I have to say the short season here makes the months in the garden in my past seem like a lifetime away. I had ice in the driveway last May! Wiggle your toes in the sand for me ok? I vacationed on the Miracle Mile in Panama City as a child. I do not think spring break had been invented then.

We are closing in on 1000
My dear Montana neighbors and visitors from far and away, I noticed that we have almost reached 1000 posts. Congratulations on participating in a friendly way on the porch.

I live about 25 miles from Key Largo. There is some good fishing down in the Keys and lots of old timey restaurants that serve great fish. The Everglades is too buggy right now, but soon I will start hiking in the pinelands there. So far this summer (it still is our summer here) we haven't had that much rain. Fortunately no hurricanes so far (knock on wood!). I hope to go out to Montana next August. I have a friend with a cabin in Red Lodge.

No, I've never been to Red Lodge. The last time I was in Montana/Wyoming was when I was 8 years old (many moons ago). I promised myself, as we headed east to return home, that I would return someday, perhaps to stay. I fell in love with the area - of course this was in the summer......
Just one more thing, I LOVE history and want to visit some of the museums in Cody.

seven of nine, it has been really neat to read some of your posts, love your attitude and how helpful you are with everyone, it is funny i read yours and plantlover's posts and when you mentioned winning the lottery you would split your time inbetween MT and Fl. we would to.
Whats funny is we are trying to decide on moving to florida, montana and wyoming, pretty extreme i know, but i am used to the heat and the cold and snow, i just want somewhere we will have more activites, and both these places have what we are looking for in both ways. lol
i know its kinds strange but these are the only places we with to relocate to. thanks for your wonderful posts.

Great that you stopped by
I see no problem with two different options! My poor Norwegian ancestry husband might explode in that wonderful Florida heat. Me? I sweat buckets so I cool off quick. When we go to Vegas once in a while we have to go out like the hipsters at 11 pm so he can survive the heat!
Good luck in your search, your money might go a little farther here than in the other real estate markets. Maybe you would want to consider the class size for your kids, maybe more per teacher in a more populous state.
By the way you can name your beverage here
