The one who's naive is the one who fails to manage his money and do what's needed to properly set themselves up for the future. I started preparing for my financial future a long time ago so I will be fine.

Evidently! The only "more money" that I know of is the paltry COLA every year for SSI....

Let's not get oversensitive in our old age. Some of us only have a few million left after spending it on multiple birthday parties.

Are you seeing Psychics? Is this their prediction, that you will be fine?

Driving through the next intersection you pass, someone could come flying through a red light, and there's goes your future!

I've planned for my future, with one foot in the now, one in the future.
Have already done all my major world traveling over the years, because I didn't want to take any chances.

The clock is ticking ever so loudly on Planet Earth. Better: one foot here, one foot there.

What's going on here guys? I'm getting kicked in the face for saying that I have planned for my future? All we can do is plan ahead and hope for the best. If we hope the government, or even investments, will hold us in old age we can be in trouble. Its each persons responsibility to do the best they can to prepare.

AQHA, I commend you for planning ahead that is wise and I admire you. I have a few years on ya and really that does not mean anything. But I can tell you at 40 I probably could have retired at a modest level of living. But I can also darn sure tell you things change fast. You can go from hero to zero in a few short years. Whether it be your health, the economy, helping a family member or loved one etc. Nothing is written in stone or forever.

Anyway, hope your birthday was a great one. I wish you good fortune and awesome health. But if misfortune ever calls .......... Grab onto your loved ones and friends and hold on tight..... cuz money don't mean chit...

.

I agree with you, 1/4 of my retirement is going down the tubes as we speak (GM bonds)....
