famfirst is on a distinguished road
Smile If we're looking for a place to visit for the summer...?

If our eight person (One son, five daughters) family wants to come visit Montana for a couple weeks for the summer...What area/city should we consider? We're looking just for a nice quiet place to get away...Fresh Air... And most importantly, there must be lots of good fishing near by!

Just curious, thanks

Fam First.

Don't spend all your vacation in one area. Any where in the Mountainous parts of Montana will work. For good fishing try the Thompson chain of lakes or the middle fork Flathead about a 1000 yards downstream from the point where it leaves the Great Bear Wilderness area. There is a hole there full of trout.
If you have a raft, drift boat or kayak there is a cut off oxbow off the Clark Fork River, you have to paddle across the river, tie up and climb up the railroad embankment, cross the tracks and take the little path down to "The Bass Pond" It is named and located on the Lolo National Forest map. You can hook up to Large Mouth Bass there all day long. It's jam packed with bass and nobody fishes it because it's hard to get to without a boat unless you want to swim across the river holding your fishing pole in your teeth ! I've actually crossed a river with my pole that way back when I had teeth !

Rickers is our fishing extraordinaire on the Montana board. Great advice.
Montana is a huge state so account for travel time.
Good luck and welcome to the board.

And/or account for there's no such thing as an "unlimited mileage" rental car in MT.
