We are looking at a house in the North Helena Valley. It has an irrigation ditch in front of it used by the Irrigation Dept to deliver water to fields & farms in the summer.

Is anyone familiar with these?
Will there be standing water which will stagnate, stink and bring mosquitos?

Thanks

If it's an irrigation ditch the purpose is to "move" water - so no, it will not be standing water.

Like MHT said, the water in the irrigation canals is moving and will therefore not be conducive to mosquito breeding.
For the most part, due to the dry climate here, you'll only find mosquitos in river bottoms away from the valley. Let me know if you have any other questions!

True that it's hard to find standing water in Montana!

Thanks so much!

Lack of humidity and lack of bugs are a couple of the best aspects of summer here!
