We want to move to Montana
Hey everyone,
I am looking at moving my family to Montana.
My main question is where is the safest place to move to?
To give you a background we are a God-fearing family that likes to attend services every Sunday. We are Conservative in values and politics. We believe in the United States Constitution and States Rights. We work hard and are sick of seeing our way of life destroyed. There is no future here in CA for our sons.
We promise to be an asset to your State and to assimilate to Montanan values!
My boys love baseball & I love John Wayne!
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Sincerely,
Bob S.

Hello and welcome to the board
Can you give any info on job needs? Montana is a huge state. Then we can bring up some other post for you.
I understand your need to move

The entire State is very safe as long as you stay away from the many rowdy bars and stay away from drunks and druggies. Just curious though why would anyone "fear God" ? Bring your own job unless you have a skill that is in high demand, nurses and doctors are needed here.

Define "safe".

What kind of services do you attend? What do these services have to do with moving to Montana?

What kind of help are you looking for?
What is it about Montana that you want to "assimilate"?

If you want a big city, you're SOL:P
I would recommend Missoula. I'm biased towards NW Montana though, the rest of the state is kinda flat, windy, and cold. Missoula has the best football team anyways

Montana is generally conservative, but Montana doesn't necessarily subscribe to the traditional Republican economic philosophy. In fact at a state level Montana is generally dominated by Democrats.

You really should base your move on the job you are looking to find. Montana has escaped the disasters of the economic crisis for the most part, but that is because our economy and job availability sucked to begin with.
If you have the means, smaller towns on the outskirts of the bigger cities (Missoula, Bozeman, Billings, Great Falls) are a great way to get back to basics with your family and the communities.
Good luck in whatever you choose.

Actually you don't sound like type of person we need here. Try elsewhere.

Bob, it's getting darn near impossible to find any place in the U.S. that holds traditional American values. The only states I can think of that come close are Wyoming and Texas. Then there are pockets in other states, like in parts of Arizona, some towns in Idaho, some towns in New Mexico.
I do recommend you consider Texas. Of course, it's a huge state, so your locale would be dependent on factors other that what you mentioned.
You will also find traditional values in South Dakota (although I don't begin to understand how they elected a major left winger...Daschle). The Black Hills area is beautiful.

Wrong ! It's a good thing that you aren't in charge of deciding who gets to move here or not.
