I have dreamed of working for the BLM or another group under the DOI for a long time. Does anyone on here have any experience with the DOI or BLM?

Should I cross post in other state forums?

I would check with the agencies themselves to see if any positions are open that you may qualify for in the areas that you may want to live in. I have a close friend who works for the federal government. (I.N.S.) He hates the work but loves the pay and benefits.

well here is your link for the federal positions. USAJOBS - The Federal Government's Official Jobs Site
Not sure what you are looking for but law enforcement and fire are usually cut off at 55.
I imagine you will be a seasonal employee restricted to 6 months in one place. Permanent slots are hard to obtain.
I have worked for the Forest service, National Park Service US Fish & Wildlife as a seasonal wildland firefighter.
