I won't call liberal people swine, but the liberal people that live in Missoula seem to be what they say that they hate: intolerant of anyone who does not see things from their viewpoint. I was in Missoula last fall, and I have pro-life bumper stickers on my car. I got yelled at, and flashed the finger just for having something on my car that some people who lived there did not agree with. So if that kind of thing doesn't bother you, or if you have a more liberal outlook, Missoula is probably worth checking into. Also, they are really prejudiced to fat/overweight people there. I am 50 lbs overweight, and I got harassed for that also, by people yelling out obsenities at me just for how I looked. On a more positive note, the climate there is very nice. I live in Great Falls, and the weather here is crappy compared to Missoula. I would love to live there, but, unfortunately, I just can't handle bigotry in any form.

So someone gave you the finger for putting your moral opinions about a politically charged issue out in the public eye for everyone who might disagree with you to see? And now everyone from missoula must be jerks? I'm sorry but you put that sticker on your car to provoke thought did you not? Sounds like he thought about it and decided to give you his opinion of your opinion lol. Was it nice? no, but you cant expect everyone in a town this large to be nice.
Same with your broad assumption about all of missoula must hate overweight people, you seem to be the one making all the assumptions based on a very limited experience with the people that live here. You cant get along with everyone and for the most part Ill say the community here is very excepting of anyone who comes here.
So as far as Missoula goes Ill give you a general description.
People, The people here are as I said very nice for the most part. Crime is low and to someone who has lived in a large city it would feel very cozy and hospitable.
Weather, Its mild here all year round. Summers can get a bit hot and winters can get a bit cold but there are few extremes as we do sit in a nice little protected area with mountains all around us so snow is light rain is about normal as in you wont be stuck inside much and once again its rare we have any kind of bad weather for an extended period of time.
One thing I would warn people about is fire season, We have fires that have made it close to town and for the most part they dont effect us too bad but if you have asthma or some kind of issue it could get real uncomfortable if a fire gets close to town. For the most part I dont notice it but then I dont have any respiratory issues.
Recreation, This is the part I take issue with the most but it really just depends on what you like to do. If your an outdoors person there’s tons of things to do, places to go, lakes, rivers, trails, camping, fishing, hunting etc, all here or within a short drive away. If you're like me and are 20% outdoors and 80% city entertainment its fairly dead. Dont expect rock concerts or a lot of other things that make it to large towns but we do get some of them to swing by from time to time and having the University of Montana here helps with that a good bit. All in all its a good town that has room to grow and a good place to raise a family even though it is a little short on entertainment for teens but the city has been good about trying to address issues and even put in a bunch of water parks that are just great for kids.
You can actually dive in flathead if you have the certification.
The transportation is ok not the best missoula was designed by three people each taking a section and so streets are a pain in the ass in some spots, we have a large amount of cyclists here and a good number of trials throughout the city so they can get around and its a viable form of daily transportation depending on where you live and work but for the most part the town is just small enough you can bike to just about to any job and back.
Well I cant think about much else to say about it here so good luck!
