Vacation @ Glacier National Park, ideas?
My family and I will be heading out to Montana in September/October. We've looked at the map and I decided that I want us to stay near Glacier NP. Can anyone recommend a town to stay in? Is there enough for a family to do in the area? We're looking for houses to rent on CL right now. We're not sure what city to stay buy? We'd like to have a wal-mart withing 20 minutes and some restaurants if we go out.
Thanks for any ideas.

The closer you get to the park, the more expensive it will be no doubt. Try the towns of Columbia Falls and along the way to West Glacier. CF has been hit by some sever economic down turns and there might be quite a bit of rental property availible.

Check out The Mountain Trader Thursday, June 25, 2009 - Serving Northwest Montana Since 1972 for rentals. If it's being rented you'll find it there...
You'll soon find out that the economic downturn has not yet affected the pricing for rentals in NW MT. Everything is expensive as hell... still !

JoshB, We just visited Glacier, We stayed in Kalispell at the Red Lion Inn. Decent prices and you can walk to downtown Kalispell. There is also a mall adjacent to the hotel. Doing it over I would stay in Bigfork. Enjoy your vacation!
