With that hazerdous waste or bad soil issue that I had heard about some time back??

Just curious as im debating on whether we even stop there on our trek through Montana in search of land next month.

I think it is way overrated, and not near as bad as people have made it sound. A few people did die a long time ago from it, but they were the people who were directly exposed to the vermiculite, mainly from working in the vermiculite mine and living in the same house or always being around someone who worked there. That is pretty much in the past, at least here it is.

Default It is not a problem just for Libby ~ Much more to the story.

This Vermiculite material that was contaminated with asbestos was used as insulation in homes all over. The other current uses for Asbestos is quite a long list. We are still polluting our lungs with this material (asbestos) to this day in industrial facilities, brake shops etc as well as other places. The links below are very informative. One is a government site and there is a Wiki link to Vermiculite that mentions a bit about the material that the mine produced.
I may be wrong but I think that W.C. Grace company inherited much of the problem and liability when they bought the mine.
