Default Whitefish, Flinthead county

Hello everyone! I was born in Whitefish, Montanta July of 70. My dad was a switchboard operator for the Great Nortern Railroad until a group of investors from N.Y. bought it out and renamed it Burlington Northern. Well shortly after that we moved to Ohio and my dad became a coal miner there.
What is it like in Whitefish and how are the jobs? Any pictures?
Thanks Allen

Flinthead County??
And you were BORN there??
I always heard that Great Northern bought out the CB&Q (Chicago, Burlington, and Quincy) line, and became Burlington Northern. I don't know.
As for the FLATHEAD Valley, both my wife and I were raised there, and we can barely stand to go back for a visit. When we do visit, we diligently avoid downtown Kalispell and Whitefish.
No way would we EVER consider moving back there!
As for jobs, I don't know. The lumber mills are nearly all closed, the aluminum plant is closing, Semitool is gone, or so I have heard, so there isn't much left for industry, it would seem. I guess everybody is working in retail sales, seling stuff to each other to keep body and soul together.
Check the Montana Job service website for information about openings in the Flathead Valley area.
Good luck.

It's not all that despairing, every time I go there all I see is lots of brand new tract homes and strip malls and just about every car you see is brand new. The decent restaurants are packed during eating hours and many business are doing well. Many of the better paying jobs have dried up but that's happening almost everywhere.
