I lived in Billings for 13 years before relocating back to my home state of Wyoming. Billings is a nice town with good schools. I student taught there, but then did my teaching in smaller towns, lastly in Laurel, which is 10 miles west on the interstate. There are some wonderful churches in Billings. I attended Harvest Church, which is near Skyview High School in the Heights. I have missed it so much! I was one of the original members. It's a part of the Evangelical Church of N.A. affiliation. There are a couple other churches in town that are "sister" churches, such as Faith Evangelical on the west end, and Harvest Lockwood campus in Lockwood. But there are churches of all faiths that are really good. I like Harvest because it is always doing things for the entire community. As for golfing, there are some great courses. Most are public. There is Lake Hills in the Heights, Peter Yegan on the west end, Briarwood out south of town, Pryor Creek out east of town, Par 3 in the middle of town, to name a few. There are also private clubs. So your husband would not lack for good golfing! As for shopping, there is almost anything you'd want in Billings. There is a mall and all of the major big box stores as well as small "local" merchants, which are mostly downtown. Billings has a little over 100K residents, which is small compared to Nashville or places in Calif. you are used to. However, there are several very small towns close by if you are into even smaller places. But it sounds like Billings would be good for you. The weather isn't too bad for Montana, but more harsh in the winter than what you're used to. If you have any other particular questions, just ask away and I'm sure someone will have the answer! Best of luck to you all!
