Default NW MT County with least government intrusion

I'm moving to NW Montana, and am interested in any inside info anyone might have on how instrusive government is in various counties. My primary reason for moving to Montana is to be left the h*ll alone - so less is better.

I would appreciate info on the following:

* Zoning Ordinances, or lack thereof

* Building codes, permits, inspections

* Sherriff's Department - liberty oriented or "respect mah authoritah"

* Prevelence of Open Carry

* Encroachment of people with statist attitudes, or inability to mind their own business. (i.e. people who want things like zoning ordincances, building codes, etc. Snobs who are more concerned about their property values than their neighbor's rights to privacy.)

* Existence of any hard-core libertarian communities

Thank you.

acrid placidity is on a distinguished road
It’s not at all too late. America as a country is just heading off in the wrong direction. That’s why living in an independent state is more important now that ever. Just because the federal government is heading down the path of destruction doesn’t mean the individual states have to follow its lead.

I follow some of the other state forums on here and don’t see any other threads like these. Likeminded people like to associate with one another and it seems as if the classic liberals and libertarians are converging on Montana.

I would also like to add to the above list property tax considerations. Are there any particular areas with extremely low property taxes or even better any organizations working for their elimination altogether?

Thanks,

Dan

Property taxes seem to be a bit lower on Indian reservations and the reservation I lived on had virtually no real law enforcement. The taxes were low and that results in lots of pot holes in unpaved streets, loose dog packs and getting an answering machine when you call the police !
I really don't know but I'm guessing that Sanders County or Lincoln County may still be a bit lax but that is most likely changing fast. You may have better luck looking at eastern Montana for what your looking for. Western Montana is getting Californicated in rapid fashion.
