Default Ticks in Flathead County?

What is the tick and mosquito situation in Flathead County, just how bad is it, as we are from Eastern Montana and while we had some problems with mosquitoes, apparently were lucky and didn't have any tick problems? Have also spent alot of time in the Montana wilderness crawling around on the ground and such from being in the military including fighting fires in Western Montana living out in the wilderness fire camps and never had any tick problems there either? In Northern North Dakota however the ticks and the mosquitoes are absolutely horrible and they can keep their -45F air temperature as well. Thank you.

In and near the valley you'll find ticks in the spring when the snow is melting pretty much anywhere but in the summer you find them in areas that are damp. They don't like real dry rocky areas. Just change clothes and shower after being out in the woods, brushy places and tall grassy damp areas. I was told that the wood ticks here carry Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever but not Lyme Disease and I think the smaller tics that spread Lyme Disease don't live in Montana. Tics have never been a bother to me. Mosquitoes don't seem to get me much but they really go after my wife big time. We are always with each other when we go out places and she'll get twenty bites to my one.

Thanks Rickers, the ticks in Flathead County must not be as bad as in Northern North Dakota then which is good, just not sure which is worse though the North Dakota ticks or the californians herding into Montana raising the property prices?
We have Deet for tick repellent, but I would guess that the real question would be is there a californian repellent as I don't believe that Deet will work on californians? anyway cant believe the property prices out there which is not so good as we are looking, doesnt look like much is selling though which is good and maybe they will all move away, not sure if they get the hint that we want our state to ourselves.

I am from California but I'm sure not causing prices to rise, I paid less than 40k each for my properties that I use as rentals. It's a free country and folks can move anywhere they want to. Montana doesn't have any special status that allows it to remain the same forever while the rest of the world moves along evolving as it will. If you hate all the Californians moving in you are certainly free to move to a better place just as the Californians are doing.
By the way I moved to a town that is still losing population and bought a building about two years ago that was on the market since 1998 !

Very well, you know I did not know that you were from kalifornia, well its a semi free country anyway at present. I never said anything about hating anyone and it is a fact that kalifornians have driven up prices that were nowhere near what they are now. One problem with kalifornians is that they seem to want to try and change Montana into kalifornia and we don't want that, so if anyone moves out it should be the kalifornians, not the Montanans. If you dont like us Montanans not wanting kalifornians in our State then maybe you should find a more suitable place to live like newyork city perhaps.
Good day to you.

According to a recent news story, there have been zero sales in Lakeside in the past six months. Property sales everywhere else is slow as well. Rental prices are supposedly dropping as people put their homes up for rent instead of dropping the price. A lot of sellers are trying to wait it out in the hope that the negative trend turns around. Dropping prices = good for buyers, bad for sellers.

Hopefully the housing market bottoms out there and remains and they all leave.

Good day to you.
This whole "Montanan vs Californian" argument is really, really, REALLY stupid. Here's a test to show you just how stupid:

1. Define your political views (to yourself, I really don't care what they are).
2. Who would you rather have living next to you? (A) Someone who shares all of your views to the letter, but is coming from California, or (B) Someone who has the exact opposite views as you, is trying their best to fight against everything you believe in and hold dear, but is a native of Montana?

And it's only partially true that Californian's have driven up prices. If you're going to lay some blame on Californians for buying property, then you need to lay just as much blame on Montanans for selling that property. I have a feeling is someone from California came and offered you a bundle for your property, you'd be only too willing to sell as well.

And, btw, not all new Montanans are from California.

Hey I am not the one coming on to this forum and whining about the state being ruined by people from other states moving in. I'm as happy as a lark here and I'm not going anywhere. This thread is about ticks not Californians. I'm sorry you allow yourself to let the fact that places do change a little bit when outsiders move in bother you so much.

I am not the one that came up with the kalifornians vs. Montanans argument anyway and no not all new outsiders to Montana are from kalifornia, but they sure do have everyones attention for some reason.
I simply made an observation and stated facts, I don't give a rats ass about all the other bs, as I am a Montanan and no one is going to attempt to drive us out of our State as that would be an act of 'war' to put it mildly.
And to say that its Montana's fault for selling property to kalifornians is just really really really stupid as most Montanans didn't say that they needed to see id first before the property was purchased nor would they. Like I said we just dont want people trying to change what we have into what they had, just leave it the way it is otherwise go away. If you are an exceptional kalifornian then so be it and welcome, just keep Montana as Montana, but dont exploit it into a get rich quick property flipping scheme thats all, as we are just as tired of that as you kalifornians are of hearing about it.
Regards.
