Our son graduated as a petroleum engineer a few years ago from MT. If you are looking for a swinging partyin' school, MT is not it. Butte is a close knit, old mining town full of charm, quirky and marvelous people. My hubby and I made every excuse to visit him there whenever we could those four years. He is now in Seattle - misses MT every day and would be there now were it not for the low paying jobs. The school is the engineering arm of U of MT. If you wish to party more and have a little more city excitement, there are schools in Bozeman and also Missoula, MT. Good luck!

I live in Butte and was the former historic preservation officer there. Yes, there is history in Butte.

Butte is very close knit but once your accepted into the community its like an extended family. There are few theaters but numerous bars.

Tech is rated as one of the TOP schools on the nation for engineering.

The nearest BIG town is Helena about 70 miles away.

I would go as the weather and climate will be about the same.
