Is there anyone on this board who is from MT and lives here?
Hello,
Is there anyone from Montana on this board who lives here? I'd just like to know more about who's who. For the purposes of my question, I'd say "from Montana" means you've lived here more than 20 years (or are under 20 years old) and lives here means it's your state of permanent residence where you sleep in your own bed year-round.
Okay, I know your definition of "from MT" and mine might be different, but I'm the one asking the question.

Don't live there now, but lived and worked there before there was an interstate. Now, I'm just about 7 miles below the line in Wyoming. But I shop there, does that count?

My mother's family moved here in 1880, My father's family moved here in 1875.
I am 5th generation Montanan, and have lived here all my life with the exception of some vacation time paid for by Uncle Sam to visit some of the more adventurous places in the world.
And how long have you been here lorelei2873???

My Great Great Grandfather was born here in a covered wagon while passing through Montana on the way to Colorado back in 1850 or so. I figure that makes me a native with enough ties to claim the right of return (which I have). Of course, Montana didn't become a state until 1889, but that just means I have even more rights than the average youngster Montanan whose family wasn't here before statehood. So there.

I have grown up here in Montana. I am 34years old, and I did leave for 8 years but returned here to raise my family. I grew up in Gardiner, which is also the North Entrance to Yellowstone National Park.
It is a very small town with a lot of personality.

I was born out of state, but was for the most part raised here. (my father was military when I was young and a military contractor when he retired, so we bounced around bit) In adult life, I've only been out of Montana residency during military service, and for a few years on a couple work projects.
I can't claim "native" status, but I've lived here longer than I have anywhere else.

Moved here in '88, guess I just barely qualify. So I guess you can discount anything I have to say according to how much longer you have been here.
Ps, my wife is 5th generation, does that get me any points?

Well here is my story.....my great great grandpa came from Germany and settled here in 1870's over round Deer lodge with his wife and kids. They homesteaded and raised work horses my great great grandpa then passed away. My great grandpa took over the operation but then the smelter started and my he traveled and settle in Red Lodge area round 1900's. When my grandpa one of 13 children was old enough he started his own place farming/ranching, this is the place my dad was born and still farms and ranches. I also was born on this place. Lived there throughout HS, went to college in state, got a job in state and still have a job in state. So I consider myself a montana, dad's even part of the crow tribe. He's adpoted in but still. That is my story.

My mom and dad moved here in about 1920 from the mid-West. I was born 20 years later, was schooled in Livingston, graduated from the University of Montana and spent 31 years in the US Army before returning to Montana in 1994. Have no intentions of leaving unless the Montana Grizzly Football teams takes a nose-dive, which isn't likely!! Go Griz!!
