We're thinking of coming home to MT after being gone for 13 years. Job opening in Medicine Lake for my husband. We're from Central and eastern MT originally so this isn't going to be a shock to us. Problem is we are involved in lots of stuff in our community where we are now. Church and community projects. We have 3 kids that are a little unsure about picking up and moving. Excited about MT, but actually moving and leaving friends, etc?? Anyone know what the social climate is like in these three towns? There's alcohol and drugs everywhere I know. Any opportunities to be involved in Bible-teaching churches there? Welcoming to strangers? School information from a personal slant? Such a dilemma. We've always wanted to be Montanans again, we just have 3 other people to think of now. i appreciate any info you can give.

Regarding Plentywood, I think you'll find it a great place to live if you're not worried about being 10 minutes from the nearest Walmart or McDonald's. There are active Lions & Optimist Clubs as well as other groups in the community if you're looking to get involved. For the kids there are summer baseball & swimming programs and plenty of opportunities for activities in school and out of school during the year such as band, 4H, FFA, speech & drama and sports. As far as the churches, I attend St. Joseph Catholic Church. Our new pastor is Father Pat Zabrocki who is originally from Circle. He is a very easy person to get to know and takes a genuine interest in his flock. He also covers the parishes in Scobey & Medicine Lake. For the Protestants, there are 2 Lutheran parishes (both ELCA & Missouri Synod) as well as congregations of Methodists, Congregational, Assembly of God and the newly opened Harvest Church which is served by a Pastor from Billings via a high speed video link. The Harvest Church seems to be the most active church in town lately, even though they are the newest. On the 4th of July they hosted an afternoon of fun & games for the whole community at the Town Square Park that was very well attended. Back to the school system. There is one campus for K-12 and most of it is very new. A fire in 1991 destroyed much of the older building and it was rebuilt. A foundation is actively raising money to provide teachers and students with technology and supplies that would otherwise be unavailable due to budgetary constraints. Your kids will get a very good education in the Plentywood system. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me directly at voiceoverpro@gmail.com Dave

Thank you so much for your information. That helps a lot. A road trip back home is in order to check things out now. Thanks for the info on the churches and schools. Very nice to know those little details. Hopefully we'll be MT residents again soon!

The Mayor of Medicine Lake, Tim Hutslar, is pastor of a church in Medicine Lake, Froid, and one other town. Most of the towns from Culbertson to Plentywood are preparing for Centennials, so this is a GREAT time to get involved with family-friendly activities. Medicine Lake's website is [Mod cut-cannot recommend other sites until you have a minimum of 10 posts]
