Hoping to attract folks who are interested in general Montana questions.
Hoping to help folks out with a little less chest beating.

One thing for folks to watch out for are animals on the road when you least expect them especially on winding highways in the mountains at dawn and dusk.

Hey Elk, does Wyoming still have that 45mph night speed limit cuz of the deer??
Watch out for the road graders too... seems every time I ever went over Rogers or Lolo, I'd find heavy equipment either just around the next curve or COMING MY WAY IN MY LANE!!

ElkHunter
MMMMMM......Grilled Venison!!
Folks from other places might be surprised to be able to hit a black bear, (near Bozeman 2 weeks ago) and elk, (near Helena) Wild Turkeys, (Big Timber) or any of 50 species of wild game or birds or non-game species on just about any trip to the store!
Do your shopping right on the road if you want, Just eat around the tire tracks
(Before you ask, No, I didn't hit them but saw the carnage afterwards.)
I took a very nice 4X5 whitetail buck last fall at about 0dark:30 on the way to a hunt.
No, I didn't save the rack as he flipped into an oncoming car and there wasn't much left but mincemeat.

Damn, I must be one lousy hunter. All I've ever hit was 5 prairie chickens!!
Arizona passed a law a few years back making it legal to pick up roadkill; however the law specifically states that you have no right to complain about the quality of the meat!
Last I heard, MT didn't allow that, you had to turn it in to the state... which auctions off 60,000 pounds of roadkill every spring!

If you're not used to the cold, be prepared. Layering sometimes helps. Don't freak out when you see your first winter heating bill, if it's electric lol
Smile. Seriously. If you are new to the area, smile, and look folks in the eye. Be honest.
If your neighbors offer to help you, take it, then help them in return.
