You got a point there. Entitlement is the american way! Not only do we as individuals feel entitled to this, that, and the other thing, but the corporations have taken it one step further. But we are the ones who buy their crap and keep the SOBs in business. Until we learn to control the impulse for MORE! MORE! MORE!, we have only ourselves to blame for the intrusion of these corporate beasts. All across the looted plains of the USA, the local populations complain about the intrusion of Walmarts and such, BUT they shop there anyway to save the extra buck an item would cost at the local mom and pop store selling the same thing. Again, we have only ourselves to blame, but it's so much easier to blame someone or something else. That way we don't have to change any of our own habits and beliefs, which we resist doing at all costs.

I agree with you there. In Bozeman there was a huge outpouring to stop the remodel of the wally world to build the SUPER wally world.. (with a grocery), the people petitioned against it, but the city was out-lawyered in the end.
What is really wierd to me is here we are in beautiful southwest Montana, and during the summer when you drive by the wal-mart parking lot, there are people actually camping out in RV's and tents in the parking lot! WTF?? With all the mountains, campgrounds, lakes, creeks, rivers, etc... Why in the world would a person camp out at a Wal-Mart? Blows my mind.

Referring to someone in an RV as a camper is a stretch to begin with. An RV is a camping machine that cuts people off from nature. Wal Mart is a perfect match for them. I'd rather they stay there than desicrate a natural area with their camping machines.
Yeah I know this is just another good-old-days story and an expression of my desire to relive the good-old-days, but I'll say it anyway. Back when I was a kid, a camping trip at a national park was experienced in a tent, and the campsites were configured for tent camping without all of the plugin crap and waste disposal outlets. Tent campers ruled they day back then. Bring back the good-old-days in that regard and ban the RVs from national parks, state parks, and other natural area. Confine RV camping ( for lack of a better word ) to private enterprises set up for that, and of course Wal Mart parking lots.

They park at Wally World because it's free, and there's usually a security patrol at night, whereas RV parks charge up to $60/night (I don't know of any under $25/night). There are very few places you're allowed to park an RV anymore outside of regulated campgrounds.
Does look kinda strange, tho

You used tents? That's not camping. Tents are for slumber parties, they should be kept in the backyard and out of our parks!
I say we only let people use the national parks if they go old school, I mean OLD SCHOOL. No matches, no knives, no sleeping bags. Hell, lets do this right, if you want to use the national parks you have to wear animal hides only!
Things were so much better in the Caveman days before all the city slickers wanted their modern gadgetry. A true camper only needs a sharp stone and a small flint to thrive in the wild.
Tents... You should be ashamed of yourself!

I was a tent/shelter camper all my life, until I got married and my wife insisted on it..
Now we have our fifth wheel, (which is a pos by the way..)
Back in the day we used to sleep in caves, army style pup tents, or little dome jobs. Some of my best times were in my jungle hammock.. easily fit in the pack and was easy as pie to set up and take down. I even sewed a storage compartment below it to keep my gear dry.
Taking the 5th wheel out is more of a chore to me than it is fun. It's an old '75 29'er and I seem to spend more time fixing leaks, sealing the roof and caulking windows than I do enjoying it. We only use it at the lake for a couple weekends during the summer.
Hunting camp is in tents, and our mountain trips are tent trips. (Mainly because I hate the camper... but don't tell my wife that.. )

It just blows me away... Some of those RV's are more like a hotel on wheels! Looking at the prices most of em cost more than my house!

I know of many good camping spots not in campgrounds on National forest land where even a large motor-home can go park and camp for free. You don't have to even be in a campground to camp in the national forests in Montana except for a very few places that are signed no camping. The main issue would be the condition of the road (ruts and low tree limbs) and if there is a place to park and turn around if needed. You can get a large rv into Hubbart Reservoir and camp for free at the lake (no dump-stations though, you have to go and dump for a fee at a campground somewhere else.)

Here's the new self-defense law that will scare all the Subaru's and Volvos out of town! Oh my god, you mean people in Montana can actually defend themselves? We need to RUN back to Los Angeles where we are safe!!!!

No one faults them for having money. It's that they can't resist trying to change everything about their "new" state to make it like it is where they come from! THATS what people are upset about! If you are liberal stay in CA. If you are a bible thumper stay in UT. If you like freedom and few laws (and can handle the responsibility) move to MT or VT.
