Grumbler is on a distinguished road
Default Paved routes to Thompson Falls?

We're located in Boise, and will be taking a road trip through Thompson Falls and Flathead Lake to Missoula for the night.

Does anyone know for sure if the roads from Kingston and/or Wallace are paved all the way to Thompson Falls? If they're not, will have to continue east on I-90 to St. Regis, and grab Hwy 135.

We'll be returning to Boise via Lolo Pass and Kooskia.

Cheers,
-=G

Well sir, the road from Kingston (exit 43 Idaho), is paved and goes up over Thompson Pass (via Pritchard) to Prospect Creek Road leading to Thompson Falls and Highway 200.

But it's not open in the Winter. The road is blocked at Murray, ID over to 16 miles marker on the Thompson side.

But if you have snow mobiles it's a great way to go.

If you have to go by car then take Highway 200 via Sandpoint or stay on the I 90 Interstate and head over Look out Pass to St Regis, MT, hang a left there and that will take you to Highway 200, just past Quinns Hot Springs hang a left, that will take you through Paradise, MT then Plains, MT then 26 miles west to Thompson Falls.

I can understand your question, but I'm a little confused about the "roundabout" way you are going, unless you specifically want to see Thompson Falls or someone there on your way to Flathead. T Falls is kind of "off the beaten path" if your intent is to go to Flathead and Missoula. Just curious!!!

For me taking the long way and being off the beaten path is what I want. Very often I'll go from Hot Springs to Missoula by going up Segal Creek and coming down Nine mile. Tons of huckleberries up there, in the summer of coarse. We go over Cooper pass when going from T.F. to C.D.A. so we can lolly at Glidden Lake for a while, also in the summer of coarse.
