Hey Doug Smythe, my name is Ken Jessee and I was in the Air Police at Glasgow from Jan 64 to Sept. 67. Do you remember Mike Gates? I stay in touch with Mike almost daily. He's doing fine in Evansville, Indiana.

You can contact me at kenj2863@yahoo.com.

Hey Jerry, hope all is well with you. I'm retired now and doing great.

would like to hear from any of you that may have met or remembered my late husband, Melvyn K Murakami. Although he spoke little of his time in the Air Force we knew he was based at Glasgow AFB for several years it the mid-60's. He was a 'bomb. nav. on B-52's and left Glasgow in 1966 for Anderson AFB, Guam assigned to the 4133rd Bomb Wing. Born in Hawaii he was affectionately called " pineapple". We are just trying to find out more about his military service.

I am hoping to find someone that served at the Glasgow AFB in the early 60's His name is Raymond Brown and he has a twin brother named Robert. Is there anyone that can help me with this?

I was at Glasgow AFB, Montana from 1960 to 1964 and during the Cuban Missle crisis when we went on alert big time. I was an Educational Trainer 91st Hdqtrs Wing, OMS, Intelligence and Transportation. Left in 1964 as an A1C after 4 years in a place I will never forget. From mid September until mid June we could still see traces of snow. July was beautiful and August was full of mosquitoes. Horrible - yet, memories I will never forget. Bobs which was located just outside the base and down the road, -35 degree weather in winter and 100 degrees in the two months of summer. If you can remember me, I drove a 1955 Black and White Packard in mint condition. My name was Frank Linkowski, I was from Chicago; however, I am now retired, I live in Ft Lauderdale, Florida and had a name change to Frank Link. att.net Drop me an email. My picture is the AFB Book , Transportation Section under Linkowski

Default Dependent 1958-61

My dad, SSgt Willis Durfee, was the 113th man to be stationed there. We arrived in July of '58 and left in Sept. of '61. Mom was born and raised in Ray, ND (east of Williston), so the weather didn't bother her much, but I was born in Vancouver, WA, during the war and it bothered me a lot. But, we had previously been stationed in Minneapolis and England, among other places, so we were pretty adaptable. My brother graduated from GHS in '60, and the SAC people started arriving that year, so by the time school started we had to go to school in shifts. Coming home on the bus in the dark during the winter could be a little scarey when the snow was blowing. And then there were the blizzards!
But I got to finish high school in Portland, Oregon, and have spent the rest of my life in Oregon after four years in the USAF myself.
I have taken my family to the base a couple of times in the '90s, and walked through our house, and it was pretty spooky. The back door was open and a couple of windows were broken, so there was a little damage to the floor tiles inside. It is in the enlisted side of the original housing area at the top of the hill.
All the SAC Capehart housing is what they are rebuilding and sellling. That was a lot nicer than out old duplexes up on the main part of the base.
No way in Hell would I live there again.

Richard, If you were in the 66th MMS in 1966, I think my step father, Major James C Wims, was your commander. By any chance to you remember the name? He was stationed at GAFB from June 65, to Sep 67, when he made Lt Col and retired near Hill AFB, Ut.

Going to a flick on base or in town, then standing at that shack trying to get a ride back, before I had a car. I remember feb 65 going to town, it was crazy 56 degrees and we didnt wear coats like fools. When we got out it was 22 below. That was the last time we did that. Crazy how you can lok back at things like that fondly but I'd never want to spend another winter there. Anyone who was there when I was, I'd like to hear from you
Hey Jerry, I was at GAFB (91st CDS)with you 1966-1969 until it's closing. We also went TDY to Guam. I do remember how cold it was. I sent you a Direct Message... check it.

Enjoyed reading everyones thoughts and memories. I was at Glasgow from 66 thru 68 in the Base Police section. Your stories really help me recall things that I experienced and saw. As an 18 yr old farm boy from Indiana who was just trying to stay one step ahead of the draft. Thanks for the trip back, Ivan Blackman
