I think I might get harassed for being from WV or something.
You will fit right in....hope you are already there and loving it.......I spent 16 months this past year in the Bitteroot (hamilton/Victor area) and Butte and never felt more at home or made any better friends. I am back home in Georgia right now and can't wait to head back out there. My only "culture shock" was how far apart everything is - it is a huge state! But, enjoy it!

Wink More conservative?

I take it Montana is more conservative than liberal? The guns rights issue is one reason why I think so. I love guns myself, and hold the 2nd Amendment near and dear to my heart. Then gun is my best friend in time of danger or extremity where physical action is called for.

We are here! I flew back to WV on Sat 06/05, movers showed up on Wed 06/09, we went to closing on our house in WV 06/10 at 10:00 a.m. then our clan of 2 adults, 2 kids, 2 hounds started west for 2,000 miles. We arrived at our new place in Helena last Saturday, movers showed up Monday and now we're unpacking. Wife and kids LOVE the house I found. 4 acres and my boy is back in heaven. No more in town living for us.

Neighbor showed up, asked my 11 yr old if he shoots, to which of course he nodded, and he said "Good- you shoot any da*ned ground gopher on this side of the fence. It's your new mission".

Feels like old WV

Out of 100 boxes of stuff, we're thru about 70 thus far! Whew, we moved a lot of crud!

However, we found a leaky valve on a toilet inlet line and I had a feeling to check one of my boxes labelled 'garage' stuff. Lo and behold- I kept a bunch of quarter turn toilet valves.

Now if I only kept my 30hp New Holland tractor.

Glad you made the decision to go,,,,,,enjoy your new adventure there are a lot of things to do in the area. Remember that the reason most people in Montana have guns is for good reasons....not bad intentions like most other places.. You almost have to have a gun out there - there are a lot of dang gophers.....have at them. Over in Judith Gap Basin area, my uncle used to pay my brothers and my kids to go shoot them. They all still talk about it as one of their favorite memories.

Have fun and be safe
