It's that time of year to switch over to Summer Weather alerts. I usually wait until the first thunder, but I may be waiting for a long, long, time.

Should anybody want the Winter Weather Alerts for 2010-2011, you can read them HERE.

I can't track all the weather, so if you get weather alerts for your area, feel free to post them. Even if you just hear it on the radio or tv, let everybody know.

This is, by no means, a reliable warning system. This thead is to allow people, wanting to relocate or travel, to research weather data on Montana.

I will try to post weather alerts for most significant events.

It's a ficticious fairy tale for most folks. But you just gotta believe in something.

This was taken this morning when I went outside.

Default Strong rain storm, Livingston, Billings, Baker, 5-8-2011

A strong Pacific system will moving into the area tonight will bring heavy rainfall across the region. There is a possibility for 2 -4 inches of precipitation in the plains with locally heavier amounts. The foothills of the Crazy Mountains and the Beartooth foothills can also expect heavier amounts of precipitation. Heavy rains will cause a sharp rise in river levels by mid-weekminor flooding is possible.

the national weather service in billings has issued a

* flood warning for small streams in...
Musselshell county in central montana...
Northern big horn county in south central montana...
Yellowstone county in south central montana...
Custer county in southeast montana...
Rosebud county in southeast montana...
Treasure county in southeast montana...

* until 900 am mdt wednesday

* widespread heavy rainfall of 2 to 3 inches across the region since
monday morning is resulting in rising water levels. Several reports
of small stream flooding have been received...resulting in flooded
roadways in rural areas. Currently...the most widespread flooding
has been reported in portions of custer and rosebud counties.

* periods of moderate to heavy rainfall will continue across the
warned area into this evening. This will result in continued rises
on small streams through tonight with additional flooding likely.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Those with interests along small streams...be sure to monitor rising
water levels.

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful
enough to sweep vehicles off the road. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice...turn around...dont drown.
