What is the best route from the airport to the west side of Pacific Grove (e.g., near George Washington Park)? Is it easier to go through (downtown) Monterey city or to go around it by way of Route 68 (Holman Highway)?

Fastest way may be taking 68, probably a tad bit more fuel usage though. Also it depends on the time of day. Weekday mornings I'd just take the Lighthouse route. Weekends, forget about it, 68 by a mile!

I would actually take this route over the city/lighthouse route. (black line)

I don't know how the traffic is now. Back when i lived there, i would have turned right the street before El Estero Park Lake (at the traffic light), then turned left onto Del Monte Ave.
