Hello All,

My husband and I should be moving to the Monterey Bay in the next month or so, and I couldn't be more thrilled. I've been browsing the forum, which has answered a few of my questions already (i.e. which areas to live in), but there are few other things I was wanting some advice on from people who know the area.

I have an older dog that I am going to need to get microchipped ASAP, as well as establish a primary care provider, so I don't want to waste a lot of time looking around for a vet. Who is the best vet/vet's office in the area in your opinion? My dog has lived in our smaller rural community her entire life, so I am worried about her not being able to find her way home if she happens to get lost in a larger city. I'd also appreciate any recommendations on pet stores/activities.

We are going to be moving for my husband's job, but I am going to be looking for work as well. Do you have any recommendations on a job finding service in the area? I've been watching Craigslist and a couple of other websites, but we have a career network locally that is a great resource and I am hoping to find something similar down there.

Besides Zillow, Hotpads, Lovely Rentals, Craigslist, are there any "Go-to" resources for finding a rental in the area? Or any rental agencies to steer clear of?

I've been a Californian my entire life, but I've lived in a much smaller community so this is going to be a huge change for me. I know this is a lot to ask, but if you have some advice on any of this topics, or even just recommendations/advice in general, I would love to hear from you. Thank you all so much, and I can't wait to be a member of the Monterey community!

My wife works at an all cat practice; however, we also have two dogs. We take our dogs to Parkview Veterinary Hospital in Monterey. That is who we would recommend.

As a side note we would also recommend PetPlan Insurance for your dog if that is of any interest. We have been using them for about 3-4 years and it's been quite a godsend especially with our older dog and our other one who thinks she is invincible.

There is the montereybayhelpwanted.com but I never liked the layout and ease(or lack thereof)-of-use of their website. That is the only local one that I can think of.

Thank you, TwistedGray, for your advice! I will definitely be looking into the PetPlan insurance.
