Hello!

We are a military family who will be moving to Monterey very soon! This will be our second time there. We have two children 5 and 7 that we are homeschooling. I would love to have some resources about homeschooling in Monterey/Fort Ord (co-ops, groups, military groups, etc). We will be filing for a Private School Affidavit. Thank you!

Lots of military families in the area who homeschool.

There are a number of resources including park days. Here is a good place to start. Sign up for the Monterey Peninsula Homeschoolers. Lots of people there ask and answer similar questions. There is a listing on there of all the park days families meet.

If interested in an umbrella Charter Ocean Grove is the one to check out. We prefer to do it independently. But many in the area like Ocean Grove. Big Sur Charter is another which some like that offers some in person classes along with your own program. These are state funded.

If you are interested in any church related programs there are a number of them including enrichment classes and park days as well as field trips.

I think there is a military homeschool group as well. Many of the military families in our church homeschool and hang out together.
