Hi everyone, so here is the deal......I work at a motel in seaside ca and a month or so ago I had a guest that has been staying with us for about 9 months and when he had came in to pay for another weeks I had realized he was not tax exempt meaning it should not have to be paying taxes anymore since he has been with us now for more then 31 constitutive days. I went ahead and changed that in the computer. Anyhow a few weeks pass and my boss realizes on the statement that we fax over every night that that was changed. Well I told her that is how its suppose to be and she was saying no that's wrong. Well i called the city of seaside and they told me I did the right thing. anyhow then we have a do not rent list that printed out of all the people that cant rent from us no longer....and in the computer there name would have a red flag come up if you were to type there name in and then we are not suppose to rent to them. Well a lady came in to get a room and i did everything correctly there was no red flag that poped up in the computer so I had no clue she was on the list. Not might fault....so it was then june 18th and I had to be to work in 45 minutes which was my shift at 2pm. Well i got a text message from my boss telling me that there have been some changes in schedule and employee changed and that jason who works at there other motel will be coming and working 4 days of shift and that not to come in today. I could understand why 45 mins before my shift she is texting this....so I asked her and she said well because I had changed a guest bill which was the one I made tax exempt and because i rented to a do not rent guest. Then she proceeds to tell me that I was harming her business by not following operational procedures and harming her business. She had asked me to go back into the computer and change the guest account profile but I didn't do it because I know he was suppose to be exempt from taxes. So comes the new week and my name is still on the schedule but she gave me know hours....so at the end of the week I had asked her if she was going to be putting on the schedule for this coming week and he response was not i do think you will be put on the schedule for the following week because you are harming are business. So the last two weeks my name is still on the schedule with the letters n/a under each day. She has not fired me nor have i quit so whats my rights and what is she doing wrong here. How can I still be an employee and on the schedule but not making any wages? Can she do this?
