For about 50 years my mom loved living in Marina. She lived around the far end of Reindollar Ave/Bayer Dr area, close to the Fort ord boundary/fence.

When i visited her, there were many sunny calm days/part of the day. Mom didn't like it real hot. She preferred having it a cloudy day.

Fwiw, Marina residents do not have to leave town for Salinas or Monterey to see a movie now. There is a new cineplex at Marina Dunes shopping center. They have also added some eateries there recently (Blaze Pizza, Chipotle, Smashburger, Deli Delicious, a teriyaki chicken eatery...forgot the name, Starbucks, etc).

Do like the laid back vibe of the town with less traffic and the cool weather. Monterey, Moss Landing and Salinas are all short drives from there. Seldom have to wait at restaurants there. Almost always immediately seated. Maybe occasionally at Kona Island Steakhouse (have eaten there twice) on a Friday or Saturday evening. Think you can order food at their bar, too.
