Great that there's a subforum for Monterey County. I almost moved to the Monterey Bay area rather than San Diego when I left Pennsylvania in '09. Or at least what I still consider Monterey Bay: Soquel in Santa Cruz County, which at least falls within M. Bay's TV market (Monterey/Santa Cruz/Salinas).

But do too many people consider Santa Cruz County to be the Bay Area?

Regards,
a confused southern Californian

No, I think it's just the way the mods split up the forums according to counties. I had actually requested a 'Central Coast' forum with a wider coverage of counties represented including, SLO, SB, Monterey and SC. But they decided on Monterey. Still I was glad to get something vs. having to post Monterey specific info in the general CA forum where everyone want to turn every post into an argument about liberals/conservatives or some other stupid pet agenda vs. the original topic.

I think Monterey & Santa Cruz Counties would have been a better sub-forum tag.

It's a reasonable request and could still happen. Just keep making the request to the Mods.

Monterey and Santa Cruz are referred to as "The Central Coast" The real "Bay Area" is san Francisco.

Posting this on here is only doing so into an echo chamber. The 'only' way to get something changed is a request to the moderator's forum. Since that was my original request and it was denied odds are slim unless under new management. But go ahead and give it a try.

Here's the original request which got this forum started 8 years ago. Notice I asked for a Central Coast forum. After six years of prodding to change the name it was eventually locked.

Request for California Central Coast subforum

But what have you got to lose?
