Default Swimming hole near Monterey/Big Sur???

Hi guys. A friend and I went down to Big Sur yesterday. Do people tube the river?? We were considering doing this. Also, made me wonder where to find good swimming holes around, wither from the river or lakes. Any ideas??!! Thanks.

There is swimming in the river but it takes a little bit of a hike. Go to the state park and they will give you a hiker's map. You can even swim under a boulder from one pool to the next. If the water level is high enough you can go down the river on inner tubes. I don't know of any lakes near Big Sur but there are lakes in southern Monterey county where you can swim.

The Arroyo Seco is easier to access and the water should be fairly high. The weather is a lot warmer in the Salinas valley for swimming.
