Hi, everyone

I would appreciate someone can give me advices on my case.

I moved from another country to here under open work permit 2 months ago. I can not speak French at all, have master degree in computer sciences, 4 years experiences in database, SQL but I were not in work in the last 4 years because of having baby.

My concerns are

1/ Is there any possibility for me to get job with such profile? I uploaded my CV and applied for several jobs but no reply at all.

2/ I am thinking of taking a computer course here so that it is easier to get back to job market such as Programming Course - Programmer-Analyst - AEC - LaSalle College Montreal, does it help and worth to learn?

Thank you.

I believe that you know exactly what are your chances.
Someone already mentioned that kind of certs are a dime a dozen, and most are not struggling with their English either.

Your husband is in Quebec on TWP, and you have an OWP. The next step is to apply for a Permanent Residency, right? The earlier you start learning French, the better it is for you.

You may want to send that CV further afield like Ottawa,Toronto etc as getting the job is more important than where you are living.
Also with no French speaking proficiency why would a company hire you when they can just as easily hire some one who can speak French..

Hi dougie,

You know exactly what we are doing
I am taking French course while looking for work now. Initially I think the IT job may not require much French. .... And the link you sent is for PR, citizens, WP with code 27,... not all kinds of WP

The computer course is expensive to me. Actually, I don't want to take it. I may find another way then.

Thank you so much for your advices.

I would call few recruitment agencies that have job postings in IT. I think you will have a better chance than just applying over the internet.

I don’t see an issue with speaking English only, at least not in IT.
