AJ you might like this one..Think what you will of the article but if you dont speak French and you want to ride Montreal public transit not every one thinks highly of its employees.
Gazette did a poll on what 1000 people thought of Societe de Transport de Montreal(STM)
Poll about Montreal transit workers: “lazy and rude” (36%), “efficient and friendly” (25%)… | Montreal Gazette

One thing i did learn from this and a few related articles =
Quote:
The STM has said that under Quebec’s French Language Charter, no public employee can be forced to speak any language other than French.
So to those that for whatever reason cant speak French if a French public servant speaks English to you feel supremely honored..

I've noticed that STM employees are jerks in general, regardless of what language you use to talk to them.

I heard the trains in Montreal are faster than Highway speed. I'd love to try out one of the trains on the Metro in Montreal. I am still used to the slow LRT CTrains in Calgary. XD

They don't get anywhere near highway speed, I think their top speed is like 70km/h. I doubt there is much difference in speed compared to light rail, just a matter of how much distance is covered between stops and if trains have to stop for lights as many light rail trains have to do when they get into the urban core of a city.

Oh I guess I heard wrong then. It might of been just an illusion when they run underground.

Unlike other subway systems Montreal's subway cars run on inflated rubber tires so the diminished/different sound may give the illusion the train is going faster than it actually is.
