So we come to this conclusion. If we keep things the way we are doing them right now, it should be okay since our skills match many of the skills listed required .

About the banks, we are going to contact some of them to get more inquiries before make a choice. We just hope that, when time comes, the transfer won't take long. It would be a problematic to be overseas without money
The biggest bank in Quebec is not a bank but a caisse populaire (credit union) system known as Desjardins. It functions for all intents and purposes like a bank but all account holders are sociétaires (co-owners of the cooperative).

If you live in a Francophonie country, Desjardins might have a local office where you could get information.

$40,000 for 6 months is overkill. I live in NDG which is 10 minutes to downtown by metro and my rent is less than $600/month all included. For a couple without children I would say $1500/month would suffice for living expenses.

Let us know when you arrive in Montreal. My girlfriend is from Senegal but she has Benin nationality too (from her dad).

Montreal is an affordable World-class city.

If they have 2 kids, they can collect $700-ish a month. There, the rent is settled. Although I don't see Quebec on this list, the same should apply.

Wow! You guys should have a great future in Montreal. Good for you and congratulations the hard work you have put into your education. Obviously, the fact that you are native French-speaking helps and you are highly trained in your industry.
