I haven't heard a lot discussions about Montreal's weather in the summer, just that the winter is always cold and snowy. But I'm wondering is it common to rain this much in Montreal during the summer? Like almost daily? I know someone who lived there in 09' said in the summer it almost rained everyday and when I visited Quebec City in the summer it was very cloudy and rainy as well. But I was checking the Montreal weather forecast this week and I see a lot of clouds and showers in the forecast. I'm wondering if Montreal is overall a very rainy city in the summer or if it's just a fluke this year?

This year is particularly crappy I would say.

In a normal year, all-day rain is quite rare in the summer in Montreal and in southern Quebec as well.

Average monthly rainfall totals are fairly high but most of that rain falls in intense bursts accompanied by short but intense thunderstorms that come at the end of hot sunny days. In this sense the summer weather is quite similar to that of southern Ontario.

Alas, this summer has been anything but normal.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. Even southern ontario and most of Canada it looks like the summer is starting late and it hasn't been very nice this year so far. Alberta is getting the most luck on that it seems as yesterday it was sunny and 30 degrees.

Vancouver's summer weather started in May, June was pretty good, first bit of July was rainy and cool, now we've had a few days of clear hot weather. Forecasts here show the temps near the water, so even though the forecast says 30 C for Sunday, it will more like 34C or hotter just slight inland. It looks like we are in for a long stretch with it cooling down by the end of the month, but nothing but sun is forecasted for another 2 weeks.

Montreal summers are usually sunny and warm, with July and the beginning of August being hot and humid.

This summer has been a little cooler and wetter than usual, and our winter this season was horrific!

Just thinking about this thread this week.

I bike to work for part of the summer. Whether I bike or not is determined by my family commitments, not the weather.

Anyway, this summer I was thinking that I've arrived at work or at home soaking wet way more often than I have in all of the previous 6 or 7 years that I've commuted by bike for a good period of the summer.

Since we have basically the same weather as Montreal, it's a good indication of what kind of summer it's been there and here.

Not much discussion I guess because of the laid-back attitude of montrealers: the weather is what it is. We've had some hot humid weeks already, personally I'm glad to have the apartment cool at night right now. The hot and humid
