I looked up a few hostels which I am highly considering and I done some internet research but I want to know if there's any rather inexpensive/affordable boutique hotels, inns or motels anyone can recommend in Montreal? Somewhere in or close by the downtown/central area of Montreal. Just a place that's decent and a place to sleep. Thanks!

For $20-$30 a night you'll have a hard time beating hostel prices.

For hotel rooms anywhere close to downtown you;d be hard pressed to find anything under $200 a night, https://www.google.ca/#q=Montreal+hotel&safe=active

although there are a string of seedy looking places one street west of the bus station.

Checkout Hotel Y de Montreal and Hotel Casa Bella, I've stayed at both. Nothing fancy, but clean and well-located!

The website booking.com usually has good deals for Montreal.
