My mom and I will be going to Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, and Quebec City. I'm wondering if we should see PEI as well. Is it worth the extra cost and time?

Where will you be coming from, and how much time do you have? From Quebec city it will take you 9-10 hours to get to PEI if you're driving.

I guess it comes down to how much time you got and how much you like to drive,Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, and Quebec City could easily take several weeks depending on how much time is allotted for each area.
While PEI is a very nice destination a good plan-B would be a drive around Quebecs Gaspe peninsula/
Although travel sites focus a bit too much on Perce Rock IMO the whole peninsula is spectacularly scenic. Budget minimum 2-3 nights and 3-4 days as a trip from Quebec city out and back will be about 1200 kilometers..

Wow I've never heard of the Gaspe. It looks beautiful. We will be coming from Windsor, and if we go to PEI, we will by flying, not driving. We will allot 2 weeks for this trip.

PEI is nice but some areas in Quebec (Charlevoix, Bas St-Laurent, Gaspésie) and Nova Scotia (Cape Breton Island, Southeastern NS i.e. between Halifax and Lunenberg) are more scenic.

It's very nice in PEI, but unless you are an Anne of Green Gables fan, I wouldn't take a flight from Montreal just to go there for a few days. There is enough to see in Ontario and Quebec over 2 weeks, and if you have some extra time just across the border from Quebec are Vermont and New Hampshire which are also quite nice.

Yes, I agree with the comments above. PEI is really nice, but I would recommend staying in Ontario and Quebec this time. Maybe next trip you could do a tour of the Maritimes and visit PEI, mainland Nova Scotia and of course Cape Breton Island, the crown jewel of Eastern Canada.

I would rather go to Cape Breton Island even though I'm an Anne fan. We went last summer and listened to and danced to the great Celtic bands that are to be found everywhere. Also, it's so wonderfully scenic--very dramatic for such a small island and we got to see a moose. We also met people from Native American and French settlements. I would go back in a heartbeat.

The first thing I thought of when I heard PEI was Anne of Green Gables.

Yeah I don't know anything about Anne of Green Gables nor do I care to find out. I'm just looking to explore Canada's wonderful major cities. Thank you guys for all the feedback
