This is fantastic! Watch until the end.

Seal obviously arrived a few days early for the Montreal Jazz Festival, was walking around, and performed a cameo with a street musician. AWESOME!

Wow!! That's so cool!!!

PS. I'm not even embarrassed to say that I watched it about 50 times yesterday and another dozen or so today.

PPS. When I lived in MA (Worcester... don't be jealous ), one of my day trips to Boston featured a bunch of kids playing "drums" on trash can lids. They were fantastic! I take good music any way it comes.

It's something than in theory can and does happen in any city.

But for some reason it happens to occur more often in Montreal than in most other places.

It's one of those "intangibles" that certain cities have.

Y'know why it happens (or seems to happen) more often in Montreal? To make up for the bad tangibles, like the potholes.

That was amazing, wasn't it?

I have newly-found respect for Seal after this.

I know! He's something else.

There's one song that he sings that I really like, and can I remember the title of it? No! Of course I can't. I'm going to do some digging in a while, and if I find the song, I'll post it.

We need some spaces like this in T.O. The Place des Arts area of Montreal has really picked up its game from how it was 10 years ago. Really, really nice. Reminds me of that area in Boston (Faneuil hall? not sure of the spelling). I'm officially green with envy.

What makes or breaks cities is the quality and quantity of its PUBLIC spaces - the spaces where the citizenry feels comfortable enought to congregate and enjoy their lives together - not how many condos and office towers it has (ZZZzzzzz). Who wants to spend time in a forest of warehouses for the hoi polloi at work and rest?

I've been making a nuisance of myself with my councillor on exactly this point. I'm on a mission to do my part to force our useless and philistine political doofi to improve the public realm in the 6ix.
