There appears to have been a problem, a car slipped though the orange cones near the corner of Montcalm St. and ignored the no parking signs. Instead of having the car towed, crews paved around the vehicle, leaving a single parking spot untouched.

They obviously did the work last minute before the strike and they cut corners to finish the 1st layer, which was stupid of them. But I love the "only in MTL" comments, cause I've seen this and worse elsewhere. Not trying to defend the obviously stupid decisions made by the firm, cause what they did was hilariously stupid ( I passed by Sunday and yeah... Holy **** haha) but this happens everywhere.

To an extent... The roads in Montreal seem notoriously bad; worse than in NYC. I think it's a general problem with Quebec as a whole. Ever realize how as soon as you cross the border into Ontario, NY or VT, the roads are noticeably smoother?

Yup.
When I lived in CT and MA, and would come home to Montreal through NY or VT, it was nice and smooth. My brain was shaking in my head when I crossed into Quebec.
On Monday, I drove to Ottawa to close on my new house there. Glunk, glunk, glunk on the roads in Quebec. Crossed the border. Smooooooooth.

I have, that's cause they use less asphalt on the roads here (I have family in construction) but lately they've been improving on that. The road conditions are much better now and continue to improve, highways are smoother, roads on average are lasting longer as well and they're finally putting more asphalt unless it's a standard repave. Upstate NY and Cali have by far worse roads than Quebec, I remember when I was in L.A and thought that the car was gonna fall apart, same in D.C, for an important place the roads are ****, Ottawa has **** roads as well.

The problem is a contractor will be given a certain amount of money to do a job ,he then proceeds to do the job as cheaply as possible leaving him with a bigger profit,the unpaved parking space gives an idea as to how much pride these union scofflaws put into their jobs and the quality of the work they do.
